Energy Efficient Tax Credit

March10

We purchased some new windows for the house last year and I’m pleased to be able to take a tax credit for them. The credit has been extended to 2010, so we’ll be sure and try and purchase some more this year. (Yes, it’s a slow process) Every little bit helps, though. And a 30% tax credit helps you recoup your investment that much quicker!

If you purchased any of the below in 2009 (or will in 2010) you’ll want to be sure and take credit.

  • Biomass Stoves
  • HVAC
  • Insulation
  • Roofing
  • Water Heaters
  • Windows and Doors

The below items are eligible for the credit into 2016.

  • Solar Energy Systems
  • Wind Energy Systems
  • Geothermal Heat Pump
  • Fuel Cells

Check this site for details.

Tax credits work for me! To see more WFMW tips visit Rocks in My Dryer.

Membership Prepay Option

March8

I’ve received comments from some  who would prefer to prepay for a year long Molly Membership, rather than be billed monthly. Therefore, I have set up a prepayment option in the store. Unfortunately, this won’t give you immediate access like the subscription program will, since we’ll need to set it up manually. But you’ll normally have access in a matter of an hour or two. The listing does state to allow 24-48 hours, but that was just to be on the safe side. ;-) As long as I’m online, I’ll get you set up immediately and you’ll receive an email with your login info.

The prepay option will give you 12 months from when you sign up. So, if you subscribe in March, your subscription will go through February of 2011. Be sure and leave your desired username and login in the comments when you check out so we can get you set up with something you can remember! If you’re more comfortable with one prepayment, than our monthly subscription, just click the banner below.

Amazon Book Store Giveaway

March8

Have you seen our Amazon Book Store yet? My team and I have worked really hard at finding books on living a more frugal lifestyle and have put them all in one place for you!

These books are some of my very favorite. How would you like to win one of the books of your choice?

Here is how YOU can win!

Simply go to our Econobusters Amazon Store and browse through all of our book choices. Then come back here and leave me a comment letting me know which book is your favorite and why. The contest will end on Sunday and a winner will be chosen on Monday morning, the 15th.

If you are reading this on Facebook or Twitter, you need to go to the actual blog post to enter your entry. If you post it on Facebook or Twitter, your entry will not be considered.

By the way, let me know what you think about the store. If you have some book suggestions, send them to me and I might add them to the store!

Good luck!

Weekend Wonders Stockpiles the School Supplies

March8

Sometimes you find a great bargain at your local department store! I love when I get new things at yard sale prices. This past weekend, I was at Wal-Mart getting a few odd and ends when I ran across this:

I bought a few of these last year around this same time. Evidently, they did not sell them all then, so they put the remainder of what they had out this time and marked them down extremely low!

I got each of these binders for .50 each and the packet of dividers were only .10 each! My daughter and I both are using these for school things. Hers are to hold papers and mine are for my household binder I am making with the neat printable forms I share in each Digest.

This is one of the best deals I have found! I sure hope they keep up bringing out things like this at Wal-Mart.

What about you? Do you stock pile school supplies when you find them this cheap?

Redecorate Your Desktop

March6

We are experiencing gorgeous weather today, and I admit, it’s making me anxious for spring. If you’re getting antsy as well, you can at least set your computer to look like spring. HERE is my all time favorite desktop wallpaper sites. They have breathtaking scenery shots that are clean and simple. I linked you to the Spring pages, but browse around and see what else you might like.

My current choice is on page 8, but I change frequently, because it’s so difficult to pick just one.

I guess I’ll quit. I could just keep showing you gorgeous pictures! This has got to be the easiest, cheapest way to Spring Clean that there is!

To use a picture on your desktop, click the numbers by the little red arrow (1920 x 1200). You’ll then get the full size version. Right click and choose “set as desktop background.”

Enjoy!
