Organized Homeschool Carnival: Organizing Your Morning
This is my 2nd week participating in the Organized Homeschool blog carnival. If you would like to participate, go here to read all of the details. This week’s topic is Organize your morning: morning routine, time with God, chores, breakfast, getting off to a good start, etc. Here’s my story . . .

Every morning, as the sun begins to rise, you will find me curled up on the couch, coffee in one hand, my Bible in the other.
As organized as I tend to be, none of that would happen if I neglected spending time with God. So before my day gets going, before my husband and the kids awaken, I bask in the presence of my Lord and Savior.
After spending time with God and hearing how He wants my day to run, I wake everyone up. While I am cooking breakfast for our family, the children are busy getting dressed and cleaning their rooms. Each one has a set of daily chore charts to follow (which work great by the way, even for the teenagers who tend to be a little lazy!)
We send Daddy off to work with hugs, kisses, and a family prayer, and then it’s time for school to begin. We always start our school day with Bible and prayer. This not only teaches our children that God comes first, but it also helps the day run much more smoothly. I can tell from personal experience that I have tried it both ways, doing Bible later in the day, and our day is usually chaotic on the days that we don’t do Bible first.
With school, the kids each have their own assignment book. They like to know what lies before them for the day. My teenager works mostly independent on his assignments. I am there to offer help and encouragement if he needs it, but for the most part, he learns on his own! The younger ones and I work together with their assignments. We all come together for our read aloud time. This is usually done around lunch time. While they are eating their lunch I am reading to them.
After school is over, we all pitch in to get the chores done, so that the rest of the afternoon can be spent doing all the fun things we love to do.
Being organized is by far one of the most time saving and money saving things you can do for your family. People need the stability of organization and it always makes the days run more smoothly.
What are some ways that you organize your day? I would love to hear them.
