Change One Thing Challenge-Storing Recipes Online
Since our Tightwad Tuesday topic was on money saving tips in the kitchen, I decided to continue this theme in our Change One Thing Challenge.
Instead of having cookbook after cookbook of recipes that you will never use, why not go through them, pick out your favorite recipes and store them online? After doing some research this week, Simple Mom has a great tutorial on how to store your recipes on Deli.icio.us.
Not only does this save space and helps you organize your kitchen better, but you can also share your recipes with others in a quick snap!
Leave me a comment and let me know if you decide to do this. I would love to come and try some of your favorite recipes!

Great ideas! I came across Simple Mom’s article a while ago and began saving my recipes to Deli.icio.us – I love it! Here is my cookbook link (you will see one of your recipes there):

It’s definitely a work in progress, but I work on it whenever I have time.
Thanks for your great tips!

Wow, that is really cool Andrea! I keep finding recipes online and then not being able to remember where they are. This is a great solution.
Now…do you have your computer in the kitchen? Or do you print the recipe out before you cook it? That’s the part I’ve never understood.
Dena, I have a laptop, but I don’t keep it in the kitchen. Every once in a while I have it at the kitchen table, but not very often.
If I am trying out a new recipe, I usually don’t print it unless it is complicated. I read it over and remember most of it. While I am cooking, I will keep it open on my computer and either have one of my children look at it to refresh my memory or run over to the computer myself (extra exercise).
Some recipes are so easy that I don’t have to print them at all; I just look them up for a quick refresher and get cooking. I print the “keepers” and put them in a 3-ring binder that I have in an easily accessible kitchen cupboard. It is loosely organized by category right now – another work in progress. I would like to transfer all of our favs from my cookbooks to the binder and get rid of most of my cookbooks eventually, as Molly suggests above.
I also use Simple Mom’s Google Calendar menu planning idea:

Mine is here:

I hope that helps! Molly, I’m sorry for taking up so much space here.

Oh, don’t apologize for that! Your tips are wonderful. Keep sharing. Thanks so much. I’m going to go check out the Google Calendar planning!
Thank you so much for the helpful tips or getting menus and recipes organized. I really enjoyed seeing Andreas menus on her google calendar. It gave me some great ideas on how to use mine and set it up.
