Weekend Wonders Does the Laundry!

July12

This past week, my washing machine decided to up and die on us! UGH! If you have ever had this happen, you know what a hassle it is to try and wash clothes (especially when you have a TON of the them) at the laundromat.

My husband got on Craigslist and found us a washing machine that was well within our budget–$10.00! It came with a working dryer for free. A man and his wife were moving and just wanted them out of the way. They work wonderfully! The dryer is tucked away in the garage just in case we need it one day. The washer, though, has made its home as our new baby, nestled in the laundry room!

I love when I find deals like this one!

What did you find this weekend??

I went to Staples Sunday for their Back to School Sale. They were having a Dollar Sale and a Penny Sale. You can get (Until this Weds 7-14-10) a great deal on some back to school stuff. If you spend $5 you can also get 10 folders and 2 packs of pencils for a penny each. But here’s where it gets really good…if you’re a teacher (we homeschool), you can get 25 packs of 8 pencils for a penny each and 25 folders for a penny each! But I took my deals a step further. Up until this week, for every printer cartridge you bring back to Staples you would get $3 in rewards quarterly (limit 10). I received my $30 coupon via email 2 weeks ago and was holding out for a good deal. (Now they have reduced the rebate to $2 per cartridge, but $20 for nothing is pretty good.) I have a printer that won’t allow a refill of the cartridges (which most newer printers now do ). So I got 4 pencil boxes, 2 dry erase boards, 8 notebooks, 200 pencils, 25 folders, 4 pairs of scissors, 12 highlighters, a stapler, and a pencil sharpener for nothing! The cashier told me that they will be having a few more good sales where teachers can cash in. They don’t advertise the teacher part of the sale though, so just call and ask!

That’s the same washer that I have! It’s a great little washer- I love the large load capacity. Congrats on a great buy! I have to say I paid full price for ours a few years ago at The Home Depot…you definitely got the better deal. ;)

Oh I love Craigslist. What a score for you. I’ve gotten 3 hutches off of Craigslist for really cheap and redid 2 of them. Yes I have a hutch fetish. LOL!
    Have a glorious day.
