I love this idea, but it seems like it would take forever to boil a whole potato. I wonder if it would work if you cut them in half first? I’m definitely going to try this though…just out of curiosity :) Thanks for sharing!

    ROFL Well…I wonder if that’s where I read it! (I read/see so much I can’t remember where/when) So much for originality! sigh…

We dont peel potatoes here. We scrub them because I just cant stand it when so much perfectly edible food goes in the garbage (we dont have chickens or compost yet). For mashed potatoes I just make sure to slice the potatoes thin before mashing so they are bite size. No trouble scrubbing. Each kid scrubs a couple and nobody gets tired arms. You can even microwave them til soft then mash them..no boiling at all.

What a great tip! I’m still relatively new to this cooking thing, and I am always looking for tips to make it easier. The main time when I boil potatoes for mashing is when I am helping make large quantities of them for Thanksgiving. This would definitely help then!
