Repurposing for Wrapping

October13

Tonight I officially started collecting boxes and wrapping materials for Christmas. You can start too! This is so simple . . . but it works for me. Over the next few weeks I hope to share lots of ideas that we can all use to save time, money and sanity during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.

Anyway, here we have a 12 ounce pasta box. Yes, we had pasta for dinner tonight :) . After dumping the noodles in to boil, I just cut along one side of the box and across the bottom, turned it inside out and retaped it. It took all of about a minute.

If you’d rather not cut you can usually just slide a knife in between where the box was originally glued and pry it apart. This particular box has a little plastic covered window. I’m sure something fun could be done with that. In this case I just stuck 3 little foil star stickers on it. Inside I stuffed some bubble wrap that’s been floating around the family room for a few days . . .  I’m really not sure where it came from!

This box and bubble wrap is the official start to my 2009 wrapping stash. I love to have supplies saved, ready, and waiting ahead of time. By the way, this size of box is perfect for wrapping and/or mailing DVDs. It’s JUST the right size. But of course it can be used for lots of other stuff too.

This is genius! Finally a WFM tip that works. I love the plastic window.

now that is something I would have NEVER thought of. Very resourceful, and like Meghan said, the little window is a perfect extra touch. I think I’ll go look in my pantry to see what might have to end up on the menu plan so I can use the box…

I LOVE this idea. I am always running out of boxes right in the middle of wrapping – especially if I waited until Christmas Eve to wrap! Thanks for the great idea!

fantastic idea!! I usually save shoe boxes/similar type boxes year round to use for gifts, so I don’t have a shortage on boxes right now, but that’s a really good idea if I had something I wanted to “peek” through that little window!! love it!

This is awesome! I’m always looking for ideas to show my Brownies Girl Scouts how to reuse things! We’ll be doing a craft for their parents for Christmas and what a lovely way to send it home!
