Weekend Wonders Names That Tune

August31

This Saturday I went to a few garage sales looking for fall/winter clothing for a couple of my children who are each growing faster than I can keep up with. I found nothing for them, but did find a top for myself for only 50¢! ;)

But that isn’t the real wonder that I found. (Although my husband liked it enough to say that it would qualify for the real weekend wonder. Isn’t he sweet?) The real wonder—at least in my mind—is that someone had this for sale:

Wurlitzer Organ

And for only $15.00! Can you believe that? It actually works! I had been looking for a piano, but since we have been doing so many family hymn sing-alongs lately, I thought that this was appropriate for us to learn how to play! How cool is that? It also had a number of “learn how to play the organ” type instruction books in the seat, along with a few in a basket that the owner was giving away with the organ. So… guess what part of our family time will be spent doing?

Any fun finds like this one come your way recently? What kind of deals did you find?

On our local Freecycle recently I received an Overlocker sewing machine – it’s about 50 years old! I had been looking at second hand ones for about £200 and thought well it won’t hurt to ask – I’m all for the ‘if you don’t ask you don’t get’ brigade! And blow me if within 24 hours someone had offered me their one that they didn’t use anymore! I was blown away! :)
