Weekend Wonders

May17

I love neighborhood garage sales, don’t you?

Last weekend, a very nice neighborhood near me had one and I determined to get there early, as there was something on my list I really wanted. If any neighborhood would have it, I hoped it would be this one.

I hit the jackpot!

A while back I purchased a balloon shade for my daughter’s room and at that time it fit her window perfectly. Since then we moved her to a different room and she now has a window that is twice as wide. With this in mind, I decided to go to the same store and, with a gift card I received for Christmas, buy another shade just like the one I already had. Bad news, though, the shade had been discontinued!

What to do? Look online, of course. The problem with this, however, is that I could only find one, and since this particular item is discontinued, the demand is high, and so is the price.

So, I prayed, and the Lord provided!

Here is my daughter’s window before:

But wait, that’s not all I found! When I saw the matching shade, I lifted it up to take a look at it and found these to match:

Bonus!

Bonus!

In all I bought not one, but three matching shades (giving me a total of four!), a matching king size pillow sham, and a small throw pillow that coordinates from the same line. All were in great condition.

Guess how much I paid? Three dollars! I determined that these items, all together, would have cost about $110.00 at the full retail price. This means that my family saved $107.00! That’s a savings of 97.3%.

The crazy part about all of this is that if I decide not to use the extra pieces in this set, I could sell all of it online and make money on the entire purchase, offsetting my cost entirely.

God is faithful to provide. Pray, trust, and watch what He can do, far above what we could ask or imagine!

How about you? What treasures did you find this weekend?
