8 Ways To a More Organized Homeschool: Organize Your Heart

April20

Today’s topic is one that I have been spending quite a bit of time thinking about lately.  As stay-at-home moms who blog, work, homeschool, and do social networking, our priorities can get WAY out of line if we allow them to.  In order to organize your heart, you have to have some balance in each area.

As I have stated before, to begin organizing your heart, ask God to show you where your priorities lay.  Is your social networking taking up all your free time? Do you find yourself spending hours on planning for school? What about your blogging time? God has given us the common sense to balance out all areas of our life.  Here are a few ways that I have learned just in the past few months how to draw balance in all areas of my life.

  • Everyday I try to get up at least two hours before anyone else.  This allows me to spend my first hour with God. This allows my heart to come into fellowship with Him as he helps me to get my priorities in line for the day.
  • After my first hour, my second hour is spent doing my blogging and social networking. If I have something important that I want to share that day, blogging comes first.  I make sure that I stick to this schedule. Set an alarm if you need to as a reminder that your hour is almost up.
  • My family comes next in my list of priorities.  If I am on the computer when they awaken, I feel like I am sending them the message that the computer time is more important than them.

Throughout the rest of the day, while we are homeschooling and such, I do my best to try and not get back on the computer until after I have had some one on one time with my husband and the children have gone to bed.

Our hearts have to be receptive to priorities.  I have heard it said many times to just use joy:

J: Jesus First

O: Others Second

y: Yourself Last

What about you? Are your priorities out of line? If you have recently spent some time on this, share your thoughts.

A great post! I struggle in this area-mainly getting up early enough to have time with the Lord. Definitely something I should strive to do…thanks for the reminder!
