Have a GOOD attitude!
Attitudes are contagious – let’s catch a great one! There’s a viral dose of “gloom and doom” being spread these days, from the news media to the grocery store checkout clerk, from Internet forums to family and friends.
There’s no escaping the fact that it’s economic crunch time, and the only real way to save money is by not spending it. The catch is that we live in a currency driven culture – most of us must have, and spend, some money to survive.
So, when we spend – we need to “spend smart.” We need to squeeze the most out of every dollar. But even more importantly, we need to grow the self-discipline that asks, “Do we really need to buy this? Can we live without it right now? Can we use or adapt something we already have? If we must buy, can we find the same product or service for a better price? Can we find better deals without wasting gas running all over the place?” Those are the kinds of questions we’ll be asking, and answering, as we learn together here.
We’ve been dealt a financial blow (or more accurately, a series of them) and many families are struggling. It’s time to be strong and creative, engaged and vigilant. We can learn to stretch those pennies, find resourceful solutions, and network with friends and neighbors, while preserving our families’ true values. This is a prime season for “keepers at home” to refocus and define our priorities as we realize just how much we can do with what God has given us.
It’s an opportunity for us to do things in a fresh way, to learn and stretch, grow and give, save and share, and the lessons we discover will last for a lifetime. So, if you’re ready for this adventure, roll up your sleeves and let’s get started!
Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? . . . Fear not therefore; ye are of more value than many sparrows. (Luke 12: 6,7 KJV)
