~Works For Me Wednesday – Cereal~
I buy boxed cereal only when it’s on sale AND I have a coupon. A small bag of Rice or Corn Chex makes a handy and healthy gluten free snack to tuck into my purse.
Then, an empty cereal box makes a perfect slim-line waste can! It fits neatly under my desk, and is ideal for paper trash. No need to empty the “trash can” when it’s full – I just replace the whole thing with a new box. We are able to burn our paper trash, box and all. This would also work for recycling. It saves one step, and it’s great to not be kicking a bigger waste can under my desk.

Great idea! There’s never enough room under the desk for a trashcan, and no room beside our desk either…. gonna have to try this one!
thanks!
O.K. that would not Do for me because I couldn’t stand the sight of the box. If I had the box in the trashcan, it may work. Either way, nice planning. Planning is good. I just like your site. Thanks for doing all of this work for us.
Tear the seam and turn them inside out and they make a great cutting board.
That is a CLEVER idea! I have to admit, I’m one of those people who likes to put a liner bag in every trash can. BUT, with this, I don’t have to worry about keeping the inside of the trash can clean with a plastic bag that won’t burn or stays in the landfill forever!
Another thought…. I use cereal boxes to collect my taxes all year long… easy on the shelf, automatic separation of factors (if you need it…we have some rental and other stuff)…and the CPA we use thinks its a hoot for me to drag in a cereal box or so!
I’ve never done this, but I’ve seen people use them as magazine holders! You can cover it with contact paper and cut the sides with an angle (so part of the magazines will show). It is really difficult to explain. I just searched for a website so you could see a picture.

I love this! I save most of our food boxes so our girls can play “grocery store.” They love it! They set the boxes out and use laundry baskets as “buggies” and they go grocery shopping! I love to recycle stuff and get as much use out of things as possible! Thanks again!
